They were originally designed to be used on salad bars where fruit flies can be a huge problem. We needed them for a food lab where syrups were being tested. Can't use regular insecticides, so we only had these to rely on. Considering the flies had the option of going to any of the syups that were in the lab, We was completely amazed when after only a few days the fruit fly problem was completely irradicated.
